David Gilmour Music: Exploring His Solo Career and Pink Floyd legacy
*New Music and Tours*
Gilmour recently released his new album, “Luck and Strange,” which debuted at number one on the UK charts. He’s also been touring to support the album, with upcoming shows at Madison Square Garden and
the Royal Albert Hall. If you’re lucky enough to catch him live, you might hear some Pink Floyd classics, but don’t expect him to play “Another Brick in the Wall” or “Money” – he’s said those are off the table.
*The Pink Floyd Saga*
Gilmour’s also been in the news for his ongoing feud with former Pink Floyd bandmate Roger Waters. Waters left the band in 1985, and Gilmour has been
vocal about his frustrations with Waters’ behavior. In a recent interview, Gilmour said he has “no regrets whatsoever” about his comments on Waters. It
seems like the door is closed on any future Pink Floyd reunions, with Gilmour stating, “It’s impossible to go back there without Rick Wright, and I wouldn’t want to – it’s all done” [3).
*Other Projects*
Gilmour’s been keeping busy with other projects, too. He recently collaborated with alt-J’s Gus on a remix of “Between Two Points”. And, if you’re interested in
getting a glimpse into Gilmour’s songwriting process, keep an eye out for his lyrics, which are being published in local UK newspapers.
