thunderous ovation from a raucous audience. Despite having won 24 Grand Slam singles titles, Djokovic has never taken home an Olympic gold medal, though he did take home a bronze in Beijing in 2008. However, Djokovic’s gold in Paris fulfilled his desire.
He overcame the best-condition Carlos Alcaraz in the championship match. The 37-year-old won the match at Philippe-Chatrier 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-2) to become the oldest Olympic winner.
In the 828 hard-court matches that Djokovic has played in his career thus far, he has won 701 of them and has 71 surface titles. 182 of the Serbian’s big match victories have come on hard courts, including 94 at the Australian Open and 88 at the US Open. The
top three players in the men’s game are Djokovic, Alcaraz, and Sinner, who also happen to be the top three ranked players in the ATP rankings. Sinner is now ranked #1 in the world, followed by Djokovic and Alcaraz in second and third place, respectively.
