One of the nation’s top high school football recruits still is considering the University of Texas.
The Longhorns, LSU, Miami, and Tennessee are on Jaime Ffrench’s list of four finalists, which was released on Friday afternoon. Ffrench is a five-star wide receiver from Jacksonville Mandarin High School in Florida. Prior to the Texas football team’s season-opening game against Colorado State at DKR-Memorial Stadium on August 30, Ffrench had
declared his commitment date. Over time, the Longhorns have emerged as the clear favorite. Shortly after five-star Sachse wideout Kaliq Lockett committed to the Longhorns, Texas made it onto French’s final roster. According to the 247Sports

Texas’s Austin The Friends of John Mackey announced on Friday that Texas junior tight end Amari Niblack has been included to the preseason watch list for the 2024 John Mackey Award. Annually bestowed to the most exceptional college tight end,
the John Mackey Award Selection Committee casts its vote to choose the laureate. Niblack, a first-year tight end who moved from Alabama to Texas in the spring of 2024, started five of his 24 career games while playing for the Crimson Tide and hauled in 21
receptions for 342 yards and five touchdowns. He contributed to the team’s appearance in the College Football Playoff semifinals in 2023 and their Allstate Sugar Bowl Championship in 2022 during that time. Last season, he had 20 receptions for 327 yards as a sophomore.
