MUSTANG COUPLE BUSTED IN GARVIN COUNTY DRUG TRAFFICKING STING.

GARVIN COUNTY, Okla. — A Mustang couple is behind bars this week following a drug trafficking arrest on Interstate 35 in Garvin County, after law enforcement officers discovered a large quantity of illegal narcotics inside their vehicle during a routine traffic stop.
Authorities say Erica Johnson, 39, and Jesse Johnson, 40, both residents of Mustang, were pulled over by Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers on Jan. 30 after officers became suspicious of their behavior while traveling through the county.
During the stop, troopers allegedly found 595 grams of methamphetamine concealed in the vehicle — a discovery that immediately escalated the traffic stop into a criminal investigation.
Both Erica and Jesse were taken into custody and later booked into the Garvin County Detention Center, where they now face multiple felony charges. Each is charged with aggravated trafficking in illegal drugs, possession of a controlled dangerous substance without tax stamps, and endeavoring to violate the Uniform Controlled Dangerous Substances Act (UCDSA), according to court documents.
Their arrests mark the continuation of intensified law enforcement efforts to combat drug trafficking along key transportation routes like Interstate 35, which authorities have identified as a corridor for illegal narcotics moving through southern Oklahoma.
Bond was set at $20,000 for Erica Johnson and $50,000 for Jesse Johnson, reflecting the seriousness of the charges they face.
Garvin County officials have not yet released additional details on the investigation, and it remains unclear whether the couple acted alone or as part of a larger drug distribution network. Defense attorneys for the Johnsons have not responded to requests for comment.
