Luis Díaz Hit With 3-Game UEFA Ban After Red Card Despite Scoring a Brace vs PSG

Luis Díaz Hit With 3-Game UEFA Ban After Red Card Despite Scoring a Brace vs PSG

Luis Díaz’s night at the Parc des Princes swung from brilliance to heartbreak as the Bayern Munich forward received a three-match suspension from UEFA following his red card in the club’s 2–1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain. The Colombian was the star of the opening 45 minutes, scoring both goals to put Bayern firmly in control of the Champions League clash, but his evening changed dramatically just before half-time when he was sent off for a dangerous tackle on Achraf Hakimi.

The incident, which immediately drew protests from both sets of players, saw the referee consult VAR before issuing a straight red. UEFA has now reviewed the tackle and confirmed a three-game suspension, ruling Díaz out of Bayern’s upcoming European fixtures—a significant blow for Thomas Tuchel’s side as they look to maintain momentum in the competition.

Despite playing the entire second half with ten men, Bayern held firm defensively, showing discipline and resilience against a PSG team desperate to capitalize on their numerical advantage. Díaz’s goals proved decisive, but his absence in the matches ahead will leave a substantial gap in Bayern’s attack, especially given his recent surge in form.

Bayern have not yet announced whether they plan to appeal the decision, though early indications suggest the club may accept the ruling in hopes of avoiding further disciplinary escalation. PSG, meanwhile, expressed relief that Hakimi escaped serious injury, with the Moroccan international continuing the match after receiving medical attention.

The suspension adds another twist to what has already been a high-stakes Champions League campaign for both clubs. For Díaz, the frustration of a match that showcased his quality but ended in controversy will linger—while Bayern must now prepare for crucial games without one of their most explosive attacking threats.
