One man dead, another arrested after shooting at Greenfield Amazon facility.

One man is dead and another in custody after a shooting early Friday morning in the parking lot of an Amazon distribution and fulfillment facility in Hancock County, according to local officials.
The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department said they arrived at the center about 1:45 a.m. and found a man lying on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound. He died at the scene.
The suspected shooter was also in the parking lot with his hands raised and surrendered to deputies.
“This appears to be an isolated incident between two people and the shooting appears to be in self-defense,” the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. “The suspected shooter and witnesses all cooperated with law enforcement.”
Officials said the shooter’s identity was not being released.
The man who was killed was identified as Isaac Riley, 39, of Indianapolis.
Both men were Amazon employees.
The Amazon facility located at 7114 W. 200 N. in Greenfield has halted operations at the company’s DIN8 warehouse because of the shooting.
Amazon officials stated they will increase on-site security as a precaution once the facility is reopened. Details about the shooting were deferred to law enforcement.
“We are deeply saddened by this incident and our thoughts are with their loved ones during this difficult time,” Amazon spokesperson Austin Stowe told IndyStar in a prepared statement. “We’re working closely with law enforcement while they investigate this incident.”
Amazon touted as a boon for Hancock County
In 2020 an Amazon warehouse was opened in the Mount Comfort Corridor, about a mile east of Indianapolis and bisected by I-70. The opening of the roughly 660,384-square-foot facility brought more than 800 jobs to the center, which is located in the Mount Comfort Corridor, about a mile east of Indianapolis and bisected by I-70. About a year later the DIN8 fulfillment center opened roughly 4 miles away along I-70 east of Indianapolis.
