Former Kentucky Star Oscar Tshiebwe Inks New Deal with Utah Jazz
The Utah Jazz are bringing back a familiar face, as former Kentucky standout Oscar Tshiebwe has re-signed with the team, the organization announced this week. The terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed, but sources confirm it is a partially guaranteed contract ahead of the 2025 NBA season.
Tshiebwe, 24, originally joined the Jazz on a two-way deal during the 2024 season after going undrafted in 2023. Known for his rebounding prowess and relentless motor, he spent most of his rookie year developing with the Salt Lake City Stars, Utah’s G League affiliate. In limited NBA minutes, he impressed coaches with his hustle, physicality, and willingness to do the dirty work in the paint.
A former consensus National Player of the Year at Kentucky, Tshiebwe made headlines in college for his dominance on the boards and double-double consistency. During the 2021–22 season, he averaged 17.4 points and 15.1 rebounds per game, earning him numerous accolades and solidifying his place as a Wildcat legend.
The Jazz have been focused on developing young talent, and Tshiebwe’s return adds depth to their frontcourt heading into training camp. While he’ll have to compete for a spot in the regular rotation, his work ethic and defensive tenacity could carve him a role, especially in matchups that require physical play and rebounding.
With the Jazz continuing to retool their roster around a young core, bringing back Tshiebwe signals both a reward for his hard work and a belief in his potential upside. As the preseason approaches, all eyes will be on the former Wildcat to see if he can turn his new opportunity into a permanent spot on the NBA stage.
