Terry Rodgers and Chanel Taylor: How a father’s fatal shooting of his daughter led to Notts’ biggest ever manhunt.
Nottinghamshire had not seen anything like it before – but these were the lengths police were prepared to go to to find Terry Rodgers, who had gone on the run after fatally shooting his daughter Chanel Taylor.
Astonishingly, Rodgers decided to hide in an area of woodland where another killer was also trying to evade police at the same time. For days on end, officers searched the area.
15 years on, this is the story of what happened.
Terry Rodgers
Terence Ian Rodgers, known as Terry, was born on November 26, 1948.
He grew up to work in security and was a violent man who was jailed for assaulting his first wife. He married Theresa McIntyre in the 1970s but when she left him, he tracked her down and attacked her with a claw hammer.
Rodgers was jailed for 18 months for GBH. Ms McIntyre divorced him, but after his release he met Anne Macpherson and they had three children, including Chanel.
