Arrest made after drive-by shooting into Indiana home: ‘Incredibly reckless act’.
An arrest has been made less than 24 hours after a Richmond, Indiana, home was shot at on Wednesday evening.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said witnesses reported seeing someone with a long gun fire shots from the back of an SUV on Toschlog Road.
Investigators said two rounds were fired into a home and the bullets narrowly missed the resident who was sleeping on a couch beneath the front window.
Police used surveillance footage to track down the driver, who claimed Gabriel “Ben” Howe, 21, fired the shots from the car.
The driver said Howe threatened to kill the driver and his dog if he told investigators what happened, according to the sheriff’s office.
Howe was arrested and the gun believed to be used in the shooting was recovered.
“This was an incredibly reckless act of violence that put innocent lives at risk. I’m proud of the quick and thorough work by our deputies in identifying those responsible and persistently pursuing the suspect(s),” said Wayne County sheriff Randy Retter. “It is our mission to protect our community— and you can be assured we will act quickly and relentlessly when it comes to their safety.”
