Naomi Alice Rountree, 94, of Littlefield went to be with her Lord.

Naomi Alice Rountree, 94, of Littlefield went to be with her Lord Thursday, May 8, 2025. She was born October 11, 1930, in Canadian, Texas to Doil Griffin Hanna and Geneva Hazel (Gilstrap) Hanna.

After graduating from the 8th grade, Naomi and her family moved to Houston, Missouri where she began high school in the fall. After her junior year at Houston High School the family moved again to Littlefield, Texas, where she would meet the love of her life, Gerald Ray Rountree and they were married April 9, 1949 at the First Baptist Church parsonage with Brother Hemphill officiating. On February 8, 1952, Naomi became a mother, giving birth to Steven Ray Rountree, and years later he would give Naomi her only grandson, Burgess.

Naomi adored her family; being a wife, mom and MiMaw were her greatest joy.

Gerald and Naomi enjoyed traveling, camping, and fishing with friends. She was a talented painter, both on canvas and home interiors. Naomi was locally famous for her delicious pies and cakes, and she always made sure everyone was well fed in her presence.

In 1980, Naomi went to work at Wagley’s Florist in Littlefield and quickly became more than an employee, she became family. For 25 years she helped create countless arrangements for Mother’s Day, Valentines Day, and funerals. She was a faithful believer in Jesus Christ, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Littlefield for 76 years.

She loved her church and her church family dearly.

Naomi was preceded in death by her husband Gerald in 2006; her son, Steven; and her siblings, Buddy, Jack, Stanley and Lloyd Hanna and Martha Lee Sparling. She is survived by her grandson, Burgess Rountree of Round Rock, Texas; three grandchildren, Emma Louise Rountree, Isabella Rountree and Colin Gatica-Ray Rountree all of Round Rock; daughter-in-law, Charla Walters of Bloomington, Indiana; her bonus daughter, Bobbie and John Wagley of Littlefield; her granddaughters, Shellie Coles and husband Steve of Clarendon and Shawna Hastings and husband Brandon of Littlefield; and many more friends she considered family and loved their kids all as her own grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Harmonee House in Amherst and Legacy of Love Hospice for loving Naomi like their own while she was in their care.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 19, 2025 at Grace Chapel in Hillcrest Funeral Home with Mike Kelly officiating. She will be laid to rest at Littlefield Memorial Park immediately following. Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.
