Teen’s Body Found in East Meadow Tied to MS-13: Investigation Sparks Major Traffic Disruption
EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — Authorities have confirmed the discovery of a male teenager’s body in a wooded area off a parkway in East Meadow, Long Island. The investigation has been linked to the violent street gang MS-13, reigniting concerns about gang activity in Nassau County.
Law enforcement sources say the body was found during a joint operation between Nassau County police and the FBI on Thursday morning. Officials believe the teen was a victim of a targeted attack by MS-13 members, likely due to perceived rival affiliations or internal gang disputes.
Police have not yet released the victim’s identity, pending notification of the family, but stated the teen had been missing for several weeks. Investigators are treating the site as a homicide scene, and forensic teams remained on location for most of the day, combing the area for evidence.
The discovery prompted a significant law enforcement presence, with multiple roads shut down near the scene, causing widespread traffic congestion during the morning and afternoon rush hours. The Meadowbrook State Parkway experienced long delays, and traffic was rerouted through residential neighborhoods, frustrating commuters and local residents.
“We understand the inconvenience, but this is an active crime scene and a serious public safety issue,” said a Nassau County Police spokesperson. “We’re committed to bringing those responsible to justice.”
Authorities are asking anyone with information related to the case to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously. The investigation remains ongoing.
