Child Predator sentenced to 30 years in Federal Prison.
In the midst of working through the tragic tornado that hit Marietta in 2024, our partners with the FBI Safe Trails Task Force reached out for assistance on a child exploitation case.
They had received information of child pornography that was produced and sent over the internet in northeast Love County. Task force members along with Deputies from the Love County Sheriffs Office went to the home of the suspect where he voluntarily showed Deputies and FBI agents images of his criminal activity that he had stored on his cell phone.
He was immediately taken into custody by our agency and charged with state crimes relating to child exploitation. Through the investigation it was determined this individual had engaged in sexual activity with a child from 2021 to 2024 to record it and put it on the internet. The case was eventually picked up by federal prosecutors and filed in federal court leading to this conviction.
He plead guilty in federal court back in December and recently received his sentence.
The individual is not eligible for parole and after completing his 30 year sentence will be required to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.
I applaud my investigators for all of the time and work that was put in to getting this conviction. While we can never fix the trauma or return the victim’s innocence back to them, I thank the federal prosecutors and judges for providing some relief in this case.
This is a great example of using our partnership and resources on the Safe Trails Task Force with the FBI to seek justice for our victims.
