Littlefield Police say Wednesday night shooting was self-defense.
Littlefield Police now believe a shooting that happened late Wednesday night was self-defense.
Officers responded to a shots fired call in the 700 block of East Waylon Jennings Blvd just before 11 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital by Littlefield EMS, where his injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.
A man approached the officers during the investigation and said he was the one who fired the shot.
Police say witness statements and surveillance footage supported the claim of self-defense, showing that the shot was fired after “an unprovoked physical assault” that the shooter tried to avoid.
Police say the investigation currently supports the finding of self-defense and the investigation will continue to see if the injured person will face criminal charges related to the assault.
