BREAKING NEWS: Skier dies after suspected accident in Zermatt.
A 25-year-old man presumed dead in a skiing accident in Zermatt VS on Wednesday. The Argentinian was found unconscious on a slope in the Valais ski resort.
The Valais cantonal police were alerted at around 3 pm, as reported on Thursday. Third parties had found an unconscious skier on piste 9 between Blauherd and Tuftern. They immediately alerted the rescue services.
Piste patrollers, the Valais cantonal rescue organization and an Air Zermatt helicopter went to the scene. After first aid, the young man was flown to hospital in Sion. He died there in the course of Wednesday afternoon.
The public prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the incident. The police are appealing for information from witnesses.
