Court docs reveal tragic injuries following crash at Rose Hulman.

New details have been released about the 22-year-old who is facing charges after a serious accident over the weekend on the campus of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

The crash happened around 1:45 a.m. Saturday. Responding officers found a vehicle that had left the roadway near the west side of the campus, according to Terre Haute Police Department (THPD) Lt. Justin Sears.

According to court documents, the vehicle was down an embankment, sideways, and smashed in the woods. On the scene officers found a male kneeling on the ground with a female lying down.

Court documents said the girl did not appear to have a left arm or appeared to have some sort of disfigurement to her chest.

Landry D. Kimery, 22, the alleged driver, then approached the officer and allegedly told them “It’s all my fault” and that he had been driving his vehicle, lost control, and then crashed, according to court documents. While speaking with Kimery, officials said they could smell an overwhelming odor of alcoholic beverages coming from his breath. He also had bloodshot eyes, dilated pupils, and was slurring his speech.

Kimery also allegedly kept asking officers “Is she going to be okay” at least 20 times, said officials.

According to court documents, Kimery allegedly told officers on the scene that he had been drinking at the Terre Haute Casino before driving back to campus. Once back on campus, court documents said Kimery was driving his girlfriend, Alyssa Pearson of Sullivan Illinois, around the campus to show it to her. Kimery then told officials that he was moving too fast on a turn and then lost control of the vehicle and couldn’t keep it out of the ditch. The vehicle then came to a rest at the bottom of the ditch.

Court documents said, Pearson had suffered a double amputation of her arms and was flown by LifeLine to IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Kimery was transported to Union Hospital for a SBI/Fatality chemical test and field sobriety test. However, once he was at Union Hospital, declined to take a field sobriety test and said he “just wanted to drink water,” said court documents. He then began asking about court costs, time to trial, and other court-related information.

Union Hospital staff found a preliminary blood screening showed Kimery’s Blood Alcohol Content was 0.23%, nearly 3 times the legal limit.

Operating a Vehicle with an ACE of .15 or More

“We can confirm that a Rose-Hulman student was involved in and arrested following a single-vehicle accident on campus Saturday. Our thoughts are with all those affected by this incident. We are working closely with local authorities as they investigate, and we are providing support to our students and others impacted by the situation.”

Kimery is currently being held at the Vigo County Jail with a bond for $50k, cash only with no 10% allowed.
