Felony Warrant Leads to Drug and Firearm Seizure
Yesterday, Officer Keifer Uphaus led an investigation into a wanted person, Brittany Elsea, who had an outstanding felony warrant for theft and drug possession. During the course of the investigation, Officer Uphaus and other 3rd shift officers located Elsea at a residence in the 100 block of Fort Wayne Ave. Officers also observed evidence of narcotics use, leading them to obtain a search warrant for the property.
During the search, officers recovered more than 93 grams of heroin, 38 grams of methamphetamine, 11 grams of cocaine, additional illegal substances and paraphernalia, and a firearm.
Everett Cooper was also located at the scene and found to be in possession of cocaine. He was also arrested.
“This is another example of the outstanding work our officers do every day to hold criminals accountable and keep dangerous drugs off our streets,” said Chief Kyle Weatherly. “We appreciate the dedication of Officers Uphaus, Bray, Slick, Haskett, and Allen in making our community safer.”
Both Elsea and Cooper were taken into custody and booked into the Wayne County Jail. The investigation remains ongoing.
Arrests and criminal charges are mere accusations. Every person is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
