Third Time in Santiago: Why It Feels Like I’m Stuck in Hell!
Returning to Santiago for the third time, I can’t shake the feeling that something isn’t right. Despite the charm this city holds for many, each visit has left me with a sense of exhaustion and frustration. The constant hustle and bustle of the city seems never-ending, and each time I come back, the initial excitement fades quickly into a nagging sense of being trapped.
Santiago, like any major city, is full of energy. The streets are always crowded, the traffic a chaotic mess, and the noise never seems to stop. However, this urban pulse that so many seem to thrive on can feel overwhelming. The air is thick with smog, and the heat intensifies each year. The city’s beauty can be hard to appreciate when it’s hidden behind a cloud of pollution and congestion.
This time, more than ever, I’m questioning whether it’s the city or me that’s changed. What once seemed exciting now feels like an endless loop of frustration. I can’t help but feel like I’m in a cycle I can’t escape from — every street corner, every familiar café, reminding me of the same old routine. It’s hard to move forward when every turn feels like a step backward.
Is it Santiago that’s become stifling, or have I simply outgrown it? As I reflect on my experiences, I realize that perhaps it’s time to explore something new. For now, though, I’ll do my best to navigate this city I once loved, hoping to find a way to break free from the feeling that Santiago is my own personal version of hell.
