Deion Sanders Shares Heartbreaking Personal News on Friday Night
On Friday night Colorado head coach Deion Sanders announced heartbreaking personal news when announcing the death of someone close to him.
Lieutenant Evis McGee, who was a member of Sanders’ security team dating back to his time at Jackson State, passed away this week, according to a statement from the school.
“The University of Colorado Athletic Department extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Lt. Evis McGee, who passed away on Thursday night,” the school said in a statement. “LT was an integral member of Coach Prime’s security team, contributing his exceptional knowledge and experience to enhance the safety and security of CU Athletics. His presence made a lasting impact, and he will be deeply missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with Coach Prime and the entire football family as they mourn the loss of a cherished colleague and friend.”
Sanders issued a statement following the death of his friend as well.
“Lt. McGee was one of the most loyal and faithful men that I’ve had a pleasure of working with. His consistency & commitment to his family, friends and faith was truly commendable. LT will be missed. God Bless his wife and kids,” he said this week.
Colorado football also shared a memorial piece for McGee after his tragic passing earlier this week. “In loving memory of Evis McGee,” the school said in a post on social media.
