BREAKING NEWS: Seattle Seahawks enter bombshell trade talks with NFL rivals over star wide receiver DK Metcalf.
The Seattle Seahawks are reportedly in talks with the Green Bay Packers over a trade for star wide receiver DK Metcalf.
According to Seahawks reporter Corbin Smith, a ‘high pick and a young receiver’ is on offer from the Packers in order to land the 27-year-old.
He later said that Dontaryion Wicks or Romeo Dubbs could be one of the players involved in a potential deal to head west from Green Bay.
Smith added that the Seahawks had spoken to ‘a couple of teams’ about Metcalf while at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.
Metcalf is about to enter the final year of his current deal.
As well as the Packers, rumors have also linked Metcalf to the Las Vegas Raiders, where Metcalf’s former coach Pete Carroll has taken over.
The Raiders are undergoing an offseason of upheaval led by minority owner Tom Brady.
Vegas has a lot of cap space – around $96million – but need a new quarterback as well as other tools on the offense.
Speaking earlier this week at the Combine, Seahawks head coach Mike McDonald sounded like a man planning to have Metcalf at his disposal in 2025.
Speaking on Metcalf’s struggles towards the end of last season, he said: ‘We want to get the ball to DK, we want to make sure that he’s a focal point of our offense for sure.’
GM John Schneider was also asked about Metcalf’s future this week and gave an abrupt response when asked about his future.
‘I’m not sure,’ he sai.d ‘He’s on our team. He’s a big, strong, fast, physical receiver.’
Metcalf finished the 2024 campaign with 67 catches for 992 yards. The New England Patriots, who last season were in desperate need of quality at WR, have also been mooted as a potential destination for Metcalf.
