Kentucky sets program record for top-15 wins in sweep of Vols
With Tuesday’s win over the fifth-ranked Tennessee Volunteers, the 2024-25 Kentucky men’s basketball team now has the most wins vs. an AP top-15 team in program history. They sit at seven such wins with seven games left, two of which will come against current top-15 Auburn and Alabama teams.
Not the ‘96 Untouchables.
Not the Anthony Davis 38-2 team.
Not the 38-1 team.
Not any Rupp/Pitino team.
It’s your 2024-25 edition of Kentucky basketball that now owns the all-time regular-season mark of wins vs. top-15 opponents under head coach Mark Pope.
The Wildcats broke a previous tie with the 2002-03 team at six for the all-time mark.
Oh, and this is the most top-15 wins of any team in college basketball this season. It also just so happens that Saturday will bring us the March Madness Men’s Bracket Preview. Kentucky may have a few too many blemishes for a 1-seed, but they deserve to be, at worst, a 2-seed.
Oh, and there’s this delicious tidbit, too.
