Residents are advised that the Town of Lyons Offices will be closed on Monday, February 16, in observance of Presidents’ Day. This federal holiday, celebrated on the third Monday of February each year, honors the legacy and leadership of the nation’s presidents, past and present.
During this closure, all non-emergency municipal services will be unavailable. This includes administrative offices, utility billing services, permit processing, and in-person inquiries. Residents who need assistance are encouraged to plan ahead and complete any necessary business prior to the holiday weekend. Online services, where available, may still be accessed through the Town’s official website for tasks such as bill payments, form submissions, and general information.
Presidents’ Day provides an opportunity for reflection on the contributions and service of U.S. presidents throughout history. Originally established to recognize the birthday of President George Washington, the holiday has evolved into a broader celebration of presidential leadership and civic responsibility. Many government offices, banks, and public institutions across the country will also observe the holiday and operate on modified schedules.
