Authorities Investigate Shooting That Injured 10 in Little River, Coastal South Carolina

LITTLE RIVER, S.C. — Authorities are investigating a shooting that left at least 10 people wounded and several others hurt during a holiday weekend gathering in the South Carolina coastal community of Little River, police said.
The incident occurred late Sunday evening around 9:30 p.m. local time near a dock where a private charter boat had been hosting a Memorial Day weekend party, according to Horry County Police. The vessel, advertised online as a party with a DJ ending around 9 p.m., was docked along the Intracoastal Waterway when a fight broke out that escalated into gunfire, authorities said.
Police and emergency responders rushed to the scene on Watson Avenue in Little River, a small town about 20 miles northeast of Myrtle Beach, and began treating victims. In total, ten individuals were confirmed to have sustained gunshot wounds; at least one additional person suffered an unrelated injury and was also taken to a hospital. Some victims reportedly arrived at local medical facilities in private vehicles as the investigation unfolded.
Officials have not released the conditions of the wounded, and police have not announced any arrests. Detectives continue to work to identify those responsible for the shooting and what led to the outbreak of violence.
In a social media update, the Horry County Police Department described the incident as isolated, stating there is no known ongoing risk to the broader community at this time.
The investigation remains active as authorities follow leads and piece together the events that culminated in the overnight shooting, which has drawn concern in the popular coastal area.
