RICHMOND, IN โ A Richmond woman was killed in a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 70.
According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, Connie Jones, 55, was driving on the interstate’s eastbound lanes shortly after 1 a.m. on Sunday.
According to a news release, Jones’ vehicle “left the roadway, struck a steep embankment, overturned and came to rest on its roof on the south side of the interstate.”
Jones, who was ejected from her car, was pronounced dead at the scene, near the 137-mile marker.
A passenger, 56-year-old Leovigildo Muniz, also of Richmond, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, the release said.
He told deputies that Jones had traveled to Indianapolis to give him a ride home from work.
The eastbound lanes of the interstate were closed for about three hours after the crash.
