TRAGEDY ON LONG ISLAND: Beloved Farmingdale Resident Steven Diamond Killed in East Meadow Car Crash
A devastating two-car collision claimed the life of 55-year-old Steven Diamond, a cherished member of the Farmingdale community, on Sunday afternoon in East Meadow, New York. Diamond, a passenger in a 2024 Nissan Altima driven by a 57-year-old woman, succumbed to severe trauma after the vehicle collided with a 2012 Nissan Maxima at the intersection of Carman Avenue and Salisbury Park Drive.
According to Nassau County police, the crash occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m. Emergency responders arrived swiftly, but despite their efforts, Diamond was pronounced dead at the scene. The other three individuals involved – the Maxima driver, the Altima driver, and a 56-year-old female passenger – sustained minor injuries and were transported to Nassau University Medical Center for treatment.
Steven Diamond was known for his infectious humor, generous heart, and unwavering loyalty to friends and family. A longtime resident of Farmingdale, he built a life rooted in kindness and connection, leaving an indelible mark on those around him. Friends described him as “the kind of person who made you feel like you mattered,” and neighbors recalled his warm greetings and willingness to lend a hand.
Diamond’s family, including his sister Elissa Diamond-Fields and niece Lexie Fields, is mourning his sudden loss. Born on February 7, 1970, in Roslyn, New York, Diamond was the beloved son of Sheila Diamond and the late Arthur Diamond. His passions included music and sports, particularly baseball, and he was rarely seen without his signature Yankees cap.
The investigation into the cause of the collision remains ongoing, with police examining surveillance footage and conducting interviews to determine whether speed, distraction, or mechanical failure played a role. Anyone with information is urged to come forward to assist in the inquiry.
