Breaking: Hospital Horror in Cuyahoga—Gunman Kills Several, Still at Large.
Cuyahoga County, OH – August 1, 2025 — A quiet afternoon turned into a scene of unspeakable horror as a gunman opened fire inside a Cuyahoga County hospital Friday, killing multiple people and injuring several others. The suspect remains at large, and a manhunt is underway.
The shooting occurred around 3:20 p.m. at Riverview Medical Center, a major facility located just outside downtown Cleveland. Witnesses described scenes of panic as gunshots echoed through the emergency wing, sending patients, doctors, and staff scrambling for cover.
“I heard six or seven shots, then screaming,” said one nurse, who asked not to be identified. “People were running, hiding under desks. It was chaos.”
Authorities have confirmed that at least five people were killed, including two hospital staff members and three patients. Another eight were reportedly injured, some critically.
Law enforcement officers arrived within minutes, but the gunman had already fled the scene. Cleveland Police Chief Dana Whitaker said the suspect is believed to be a male in his 40s, armed and dangerous. “This was a deliberate, targeted attack. We are doing everything in our power to locate this individual and bring him to justice,” she said at a press briefing.
SWAT teams have locked down the surrounding area, and nearby schools and businesses were placed on temporary lockdown as a precaution.
The FBI and state officials have joined the investigation, though no motive has been confirmed. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of a domestic or workplace-related incident.
Grief counselors are being provided to hospital staff and victims’ families, while the community reels from yet another senseless act of violence.
