First Look: Scorpions Biopic ‘Wind of Change’ Promises Rock Legends’ Untold Story
Rock fans, get ready — the legendary German rock band Scorpions are getting the big-screen treatment in a new biopic titled Wind of Change, and the first look has officially dropped. The film, named after their iconic 1990 power ballad that became a global anthem for political change, promises to reveal the untold story behind one of rock’s most influential bands.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Alex Riegel, Wind of Change will trace the band’s journey from their early days in post-war Germany to international stardom. The film is set to explore not just their musical milestones, but also the personal and political forces that shaped their sound — including the fall of the Berlin Wall, which inspired their most famous track.
Starring German actor Daniel Brühl as frontman Klaus Meine, the cast also includes Jonas Dassler as guitarist Rudolf Schenker and Emily Beecham as a fictional journalist covering their rise. Early stills from the production hint at a gritty, emotionally charged take on the band’s evolution through decades of cultural transformation.
Scorpions fans can expect a soundtrack packed with their biggest hits — from “Rock You Like a Hurricane” to “Still Loving You” — as well as never-before-seen archival footage and behind-the-scenes insights. The project is being developed with full cooperation from the band, ensuring authenticity and depth.
The biopic comes at a time when interest in music history and legacy acts is at an all-time high, following the success of films like Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman. Wind of Change aims to do for Scorpions what those films did for Queen and Elton John.
Wind of Change is slated for a 2026 theatrical release, with more teasers expected in the coming months.
