Unborn Child Among Victims in Devastating Maggie Valley Car Wreck
A tragic head-on collision occurred on Raccoon Valley Road in Maggie Valley, Tennessee, on Friday evening, resulting in the deaths of two women and an unborn child. The incident unfolded around 6 p.m. at the intersection of Raccoon Valley Road and Hausmond Way, where emergency responders discovered two vehicles involved in the crash. Five individuals were injured and transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, 20-year-old Jonathon Jones was driving eastbound in a Nissan Sentra when he crossed into the westbound lane, colliding with a Ford Expedition. Witnesses reported that Jones had been driving recklessly, passing other vehicles on a double yellow line. Upon speaking with Jones at the hospital, a trooper observed bloodshot, watery eyes, and Jones admitted to daily marijuana use.
The crash claimed the lives of Casandra Jones, Jonathon’s pregnant wife, and their unborn child. Additionally, Virginia Brooks, a passenger in the Ford Expedition, succumbed to her injuries the following morning. Jonathon Jones has been charged with three counts of vehicular homicide by intoxication, two counts of aggravated assault, and one count of improper passing. The Tennessee Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
