Overnight Blaze at Maggie Valley’s Smoky Falls Lodge Draws Emergency Response, Few Injuries Reported
Maggie Valley, NC — Emergency crews responded swiftly to an overnight fire that broke out at the Smoky Falls Lodge in Maggie Valley late Saturday, prompting evacuations but leaving no injuries reported. The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation by local fire officials.
The fire was first reported shortly after 11:30 p.m., when guests at the roadside mountain lodge noticed smoke and alerted authorities. Within minutes, crews from the Maggie Valley Fire & Rescue and surrounding departments arrived on the scene to battle flames that had begun to engulf part of the lodge’s main building.
Firefighters worked through the early morning hours to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby structures. All guests were safely evacuated, and no injuries to staff or responders have been reported. Several rooms sustained smoke and water damage, but the full extent of the property loss is still being assessed.
“I want to thank our first responders for their quick and professional actions,” said Maggie Valley Mayor Mike Eveland. “Their work prevented what could have been a much more serious situation.”
Guests displaced by the fire have been temporarily relocated to nearby accommodations, with assistance from town officials and the American Red Cross. The lodge, a longtime staple of Maggie Valley tourism, remains temporarily closed as investigators work to determine the origin of the fire.
