Mass Shooting Rocks Little River Neighborhood — Victims in Critical Condition
A peaceful evening turned into chaos in the Little River neighborhood as gunfire erupted, leaving 10 people shot and several in critical condition, according to police.
The shooting occurred shortly after 8 p.m. near the intersection of North Miami Avenue and 79th Street. Authorities say a large crowd had gathered in the area when an unknown number of suspects opened fire. Witnesses described scenes of panic, with people running for cover as bullets flew.
Emergency responders arrived within minutes, transporting multiple victims to nearby hospitals. As of Monday morning, several individuals remain in critical condition, while others are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
“This is a senseless act of violence that has deeply shaken our community,” said a spokesperson for the Miami Police Department during a press conference. “We are doing everything in our power to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.”
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses and urging anyone with information to come forward. No arrests have been made at this time.
Residents of Little River expressed shock and frustration over the violent incident. “We’ve had crime here before, but never anything like this,” said Maria Torres, a local shop owner. “We just want to feel safe in our own neighborhood.”
City officials have promised increased police presence in the area in the coming days. Community leaders are also calling for greater investment in violence prevention and youth outreach programs to address the root causes of gun violence.
