18-year-old killed, 2 flown to hospital after car, semi truck collide in Wayne County
An investigation is being carried out by Kentucky State Police (KSP) after an 18-year-old man was killed and two others were flown to a Lexington hospital on Sunday morning after a two-vehicle crash in Wayne County.
It happened just before 8 a.m. on Sunday at the intersection of West KY-90 and KY-1547, state police said in a news release.
An initial investigation by troopers with KSP Post 11 in London showed that Seth Bolen, 19, of Monticello, was driving south on KY-1 in a 2008 maroon Cadillac CTS. Seth pulled out of the intersection on West KY-90 when he allegedly drove into the path of a 2023 Freightliner driven by Demario Adams, 34, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Elijah Bolen, 18, of Monticello, was ejected from the Cadillac as a result of the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Wayne County Coroner’s Office, per KSP.
Seth was also reportedly ejected from the car and flown to the University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital in Lexington for treatment of serious injuries. Adams was also flown to the hospital, where he was later released.
In a release Sunday night, Wayne County schools confirmed that Bolen was a senior at Wayne County High School.
An investigation into the deadly crash remains ongoing.
