Norman man arrested for plotting to murder ex-girlfriend and her family.
A Norman man is behind bars, accused of planning to murder his ex-girlfriend and her family.
According to an affidavit, the 18-year-old from Norman told someone about his alleged plan to stab and kill his ex-girlfriend and her mother, that person alerted Norman Police who were able to arrest him before he could move forward with the plan.
In body camera video from Norman PD, you can see officers arrest 18-year-old Matthew Austin near a crosswalk in Norman.
Court documents say Austin told his ex-girlfriend in May that if she did not drop a rape case against him, then he would go to her house and stab her, her mother, and her brother in the lungs so they would not scream.
The documents allege that in July, Austin shared that same plan with someone else.
According to the affidavit, that person told Norman police that Austin went to Home Depot and bought painter masks and black latex gloves, he allegedly then told that person that he planned to, “Knock on the door and whoever answered he would then decide what to do,”.
The arrest affidavit says Austin had a Home Depot bag with painting masks and black gloves inside and was facing the direction of where his ex-girlfriend lives.
The documents say he eventually confessed to police.
Austin is currently behind bars at the Cleveland County Detention Center where he faces several charges including a plan to cause serious bodily harm or death and rape in the second degree.
