Our Lives Changed Forever’: Parents Sue Alleged Drunk Driver in Panama City Beach Golf Cart Crash That Injured Their Daughters
PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. — The parents of two young girls who were seriously injured in a devastating golf cart crash are suing the driver accused of causing the tragedy while under the influence.
The crash occurred over spring break on a quiet Panama City Beach road, where the girls—both minors—were enjoying a ride in a golf cart when it was struck by a vehicle. Authorities allege the driver, 35-year-old Michael Turner, was intoxicated at the time of the collision. He now faces multiple charges, including DUI causing serious bodily injury.
According to the lawsuit filed Monday, the families are seeking damages for medical expenses, emotional distress, and long-term trauma their daughters continue to endure. The complaint describes the girls’ injuries as “life-altering,” with one child suffering a traumatic brain injury and the other undergoing multiple surgeries.
“Our lives changed forever in an instant,” one mother said during a press conference. “No parent should have to watch their child in that kind of pain.”
Witnesses at the scene recalled the horrific aftermath—shattered glass, crumpled metal, and screams for help. First responders rushed the girls to a nearby hospital, where they spent several days in critical condition.
The families say the lawsuit is not only about justice for their children, but also about sending a message about the dangers of impaired driving.
“Our hope is that no other family has to go through what we’re living,” another parent added.
Turner has not yet entered a plea. A court date is pending.
As the legal battle unfolds, the families continue to focus on healing—and holding those responsible accountable.
