24-year-old dead following crash in Jackson County.
A 24-year-old man is dead, and a 27-year-old man has serious injuries following a crash in Jackson County on Monday, both men are from Panama City.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a sedan with Panama City residents was driving southbound on US 231 behind another sedan. The 27-year-old driver from Panama City reportedly veered to the right in an attempt to avoid a collision with the rear of the car in front of it. The front of the car collided into the rear of the second car causing it to rotate counterclockwise.
The sedan with the Panama City residents traveled onto the west shoulder and collided with a culvert causing it to become airborne. The passenger was ejected from the car. The sedan came to final rest on its wheels on the west shoulder facing east.
The 37-year-old driver from Cottondale in the second car has no injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson County Fire Rescue and the Alford Volunteer Fire Department.
