Two Arrested for Attempted Murder in Slab City Assault.
So far two Slab City residents have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in the assault of a man who was struck in the head with a baseball bat and run down with a car, according to authorities.
The victim was attacked by at least four people in the area of Ray Hound Road in Slab City northeast of Niland just before 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, said Imperial County sheriff’s Sgt. Moises Badena. The man received “significant injuries” to his head and arms, the sergeant added.
Michael Tadlock, 27, was arrested on Oct. 29 on counts of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon without a firearm and battery with serious bodily injury. His bail amount wasn’t available.
On Thursday, Oct. 31, the second suspect, Eric Michael Kofoed, 27, was arrested near the Ponderosa campsite area of Slab City and held on attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon without a firearm and battery with serious bodily injury. His bail was set at $1 million.
Sgt. Badena said deputies are still investigating the case and aren’t certain what caused the assault, adding the group might have had ongoing issues. Right now, investigators are getting “conflicting stories,” he said.
