Littlefield man sentenced to decades in prison for murder.
Edwin Gutierrez, 19, was sentenced to 30 years in prison by the 154th District Court on Thursday afternoon for the murder of Edward Jimenez Jr., 30, that occurred in 2023.
On January 30, 2023, Littlefield Police were dispatched to a call regarding a man who had been found unresponsive in his home in the 200 Block of Cole Street. Officers arrived and discovered Jimenez with a gunshot wound and pronounced him deceased at the scene. Officers also noticed some of his belongings had been taken from the residence.
The Littlefield Police Department, Lubbock Police and Lubbock Police Department’s Forensic Unit conducted an investigation, with assistance from the Texas Rangers. Police soon discovered that the then-17-year-old Edwin Gutierrez of Littlefield had committed the murder and had stolen Jimenez’s property from the residence.
On May 3, 2023, Gutierrez was arrested by Littlefield Police and transported to the Lamb County Jail, where he has remained since.
