Floridians will pay the price of too much development
We are seeing a similar situation up in the northwest panhandle that you are facing in The Villages.
Moved to Panama City Beach in 2015 and it wasn’t particularly crowded. Over the past decade the building boom here has created a far different community.
The quest is for tourism revenue but it has resulted in over-taxed infrastructure, roads, utilities, and services. They are trying to catch up, but six-lane highways just replace four-lane ones, enabling more people to move into the community faster. Longer wait times for everything from traffic lights to restaurants.
I sense from talking to others across Florida that this is a common thread. Florida is recruiting this expansion but there will be a price.
