Brad Gushue Eyes 2026 Olympics with Potential Four-Year Commitment
Canadian curling icon Brad Gushue has indicated he’s not ready to hang up his broom just yet. The 2006 Olympic gold medalist and four-time Brier champion has expressed his desire to continue competing at the highest level, with a potential run at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina now firmly on his radar.
At 44 years old, Gushue remains one of the most respected and competitive skips in the sport. After another strong showing during the 2023–24 curling season, he made it clear he still has the drive and fire to pursue more championship glory. “As long as I feel I can still perform at a high level and the team is committed, I’m absolutely open to continuing,” Gushue said in a recent interview.
The Newfoundland native emphasized that any decision to continue must be made with a long-term vision. That means not just playing season-to-season, but potentially committing to a full four-year Olympic cycle. “If we’re going to go for 2026, we have to start now. It’s a four-year journey, not a one-year plan,” he noted.
Gushue’s current team has remained relatively stable in recent years, and chemistry has been a key factor in their continued success. However, he acknowledged that discussions about the future are ongoing and could involve changes, depending on the goals and life circumstances of his teammates. “It’s not just about me. Everyone has to be on board. The Olympics are a huge commitment—time-wise, emotionally, and physically.”
Despite the growing number of young stars in Canadian curling, Gushue continues to prove that experience and strategy are just as valuable as youthful energy. His leadership and consistency have kept his teams at the top of the rankings, and his ability to read the ice and make clutch shots under pressure remains world-class.
If Gushue does make a push for 2026, he’ll be among the few curlers in history to compete in multiple Olympics two decades apart—a testament to his longevity and love for the game.
For now, fans will have to wait and see how discussions within his team evolve in the off-season. But one thing is clear: Brad Gushue isn’t finished yet, and the road to Milan-Cortina just might have one of Canada’s curling greats leading the charge once more.
