Hailey Van Lith Makes Opinion of Angel Reese Extremely Clear After WNBA Draft
Hailey Van Lith played for three different schools during her five years of college basketball: Louisville, Louisiana State University and Texas Christian University. She was at LSU during the 2023-24 season, where she teamed up with Angel Reese and won the national championship.
Reese became a member of the WNBA’s Chicago Sky last season, and now, Van Lith will be joining her in the Windy City after the Sky took Van Lith with the No. 11 pick in Monday’s WNBA draft.
At the draft, Van Lith made it clear that she’s looking forward to having Reese by her side again.
“She’s a dawg, man,” Van Lith said. “She turns up the intensity of everyone around her.”
This past season, Van Lith averaged 17.9 points and 5.4 assists a game for the Horned Frogs. A 5-foot-9 guard, she has been lauded for her leadership and competitive spirit, and although she’s undersized, she does a good job of drawing fouls and gives 100% on the defensive end.
Reese, the No. 7 pick in last year’s WNBA draft, averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds a game last season and was the runner-up in the Rookie of the Year balloting to Caitlin Clark. She is one of a number of young stars who have been credited with increasing the popularity of women’s basketball, a sport that could be in hypergrowth right now.
Hailey Van Lith got a surprise amount of attention before the ND game.
