73-Year-Old Maggie valley Hiker Found Deceased In Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Tragic news out of Great Smoky Mountains National Park where a 73-year-old hiker was found deceased on Sunday roughly a quarter mile off of the Enloe Creek Trail.
According to the National Park Service, Ann Houghton, a long-term park volunteer and beloved member of the Smokies Community, was reported missing on February 1 after she planned to hike in the park between January 28 and 29.
A search began in the Smokemont area on February 1, focusing along Bradley Fork, Chasteen Creek, Hughes Ridge and Enloe Creek trails, as her vehicle was found at the Smokemont Campground. Cherokee Fire and Rescue, BUSAR, Macon Volunteer Fire Department, Cowee Volunteer Fire Department, Appalachian Mountain Rescue Team and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office all assisted in the search operation.
