JUST NOW: Firefighters battle two blazes at same motel in Maggie valley North Carolina tourist hotspot
At a popular North Carolina tourist destination, firefighters responded to two fires within a day at the same motel.
Maggie Valley Fire and Rescue said that the first fire was reported around 2 p.m. Saturday at the Heart of the Valley Motel on Heart Lane in Maggie Valley. The second fire was reported around 4 a.m. Sunday.
Both fires took about six hours to contain and multiple fire departments responded, fire officials said.
According to firefighters, everyone managed to evacuate the motel safely during both fires.
Maggie Valley Fire and Rescue told WYFF News 4 that firefighters were clearing the scene around 11:45 a.m.
Haywood County fire marshals are investigating the cause of the fires.
