Investigation ongoing into weekend car crash that killed Greens Fork man
A 28-year-old Greens Fork man died Saturday night after a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 70, Wayne County Sheriff’s officials said.
About 8:53 p.m., Cedric Wolter was found dead in a 2007 Toyota Corolla he was driving at the 149-mile marker on I-70, in which Wolter was traveling in the eastbound lane.
Deputies found Wolter’s vehicle in the median against the cable barrier system, police said, leading to a shutdown of the Centerville Road exit at the 145-mile marker for three hours.
“The family and loved ones of Cedric Wolter are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time,” Sheriff Randy Retter said in a release. “We extend our deepest condolences to those affected by this tragic loss.”
At the scene, the sheriff’s office was assisted by Wayne County Emergency Communications, Richmond Police Department Drone Team, Richmond Fire Department, Indiana State Police, Indiana Department of Transportation and the Wayne County coroner’s office.
