Tyler Herro Makes Controversial Jimmy Butler Claim After Miami Heat Exit
Tyler Herro has made a controversial Jimmy Butler claim after the 35-year-old was traded by the Miami Heat to the Golden State Warriors.
Jimmy Butler is a Miami Heat legend. There is zero doubt about that statement. During his time in South Beach, he guided the franchise to two NBA Finals appearances and was not far away from a third.
In the process, he exceeded all expectations and became the face of the Heat for several years until his recent trade to the Golden State Warriors.
The circumstances surrounding Butler’s exit from Miami were not ideal though. He was suspended three times by the organization in recent months.
Since joining the Warriors, Butler has done well. They are 3-1 in the four games in which he has featured, as the 35-year-old appears to have added a new dimension to the team.
On the other hand, the Heat wasted no time in handing his number 22 jersey to Andrew Wiggins, who arrived as part of the Butler trade.
When asked whether handing Butler’s jersey number to Wiggins was disrespectful, Tyler Herro said: “Jimmy is definitely a Heat legend, but I feel with how things transpired over the last couple of months… I think 22 can be worn again.”
One has to wonder how much the relationship between Butler and his former teammates was strained over the last few months.
Herro has been the Heat’s best performer this season by far as he has finally made the leap that every Miami fan had been waiting for for the past few years.
Herro has averaged 23.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists in 51 games this season. He made his first All-Star appearance at the weekend.
Unfortunately, the Heat do not seem to be heading in the right direction despite Herro’s brilliance and are on a four-game losing streak at the moment.
On the other hand, the Warriors might have faint Championship aspirations once again as Butler seems to be clicking in their system.
