‘Tragic loss’ : 28-year-old killed in car crash on I-70 in Wayne County
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said they received a report of a single-vehicle crash in the eastbound lanes of I-70 around 9 p.m. last night.
A 28-year-old is dead after a car crash on Interstate 70 in Wayne County Saturday night.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said they received a report of a single-vehicle crash in the eastbound lanes of I-70, just west of the 149-mile marker, around 9 p.m. Feb. 22.
When police arrived, they said they found a 2007 Toyota Corolla in the median against the cable barrier system.
Police said the driver, Cedric Wolter, 28, of Greens Fork, was pronounced dead at the scene.
I-70 eastbound was closed at the Centerville Road exit for three hours.
“The family and loved ones of Cedric Wolter are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time,” said Sheriff Randy Retter. “We extend our deepest condolences to those affected by this tragic loss.”
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was helped at the scene by Wayne County Emergency Communications, Richmond Police Department Drone Team, Richmond Fire Department, Indiana State Police, Indiana Department of Transportation and the Wayne County Coroner’s Office.
