BREAKING NEWS: Buffalo Bills appoints Chris Tabor as new special team coordinator.
The Buffalo Bills have appointed Chris Tabor as their new special teams coordinator, bringing over 15 years of NFL coaching experience to the team.
Tabor’s coaching career began in 1993 at Benton High School in St. Joseph, Missouri. He later served as the running backs coach at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas and as offensive coordinator at Central Methodist University in Missouri. In 1997, he joined the University of Missouri as a graduate assistant, eventually becoming the running backs and special teams coach in 2000. His collegiate coaching experience also includes stints at Culver–Stockton College, Utah State University, and Western Michigan University.
In the NFL, Tabor began as an assistant special teams coach with the Chicago Bears from 2008 to 2010. He then served as the special teams coordinator for the Cleveland Browns from 2011 to 2017, where he earned recognition for his unit’s performance. Tabor returned to the Bears as special teams coordinator from 2018 to 2021. In 2022, he joined the Carolina Panthers as special teams coordinator and briefly served as interim head coach in 2023.
Tabor’s extensive experience and leadership are expected to enhance the Bills’ special teams unit, which has faced inconsistencies in recent seasons. His appointment follows the dismissal of former special teams coordinator Matthew Smiley.
The Buffalo Bills’ decision to hire Chris Tabor underscores their commitment to strengthening all facets of the team, aiming for improved performance in the upcoming season.
