BREAKING NEWS: Georgia Bulldogs lose 5 star commit to Texas over NIL package
This ain’t your daddy’s college football anymore. It’s the Wild West of the NIL era, and the Georgia Bulldogs know that as well as anybody, losing out on 5-star defensive lineman Justus Terry to Texas, who put together a better NIL package, according to Chad Simmons of On3.
“I don’t know how else to say it — just a straight-up better NIL package.”
This is a prime example of what so many people take issue with in college football and NIL. I think most people agree that these kids should be properly compensated. NIL is important, but there are incredible flaws in the system.
Kirby Smart has recruited Justus Terry since he was in middle school, and nobody produces NFL talent quite like the Georgia Bulldogs, especially defenders. There’s not a better place in the country for a defensive lineman to go if they want to make it to the next level.
But Texas has more money than God himself and will always win out in these recruiting battles if it comes down to dollars and cents. The Georgia Bulldogs will be just fine, though.
