In an effort to strengthen the offensive line of the Roughriders, Saskatchewan coach Corey Mace signed one of the top lineman available in free
agency. Jermarcus Hardrick, an offensive tackle with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, is expected to ink a two-year deal with the Riders, according to a report from
TSN’s Farhan Lalji on Monday. With a $120,000 signing bonus, the contract is set to pay out $230,500 per season, making him the highest-paid offensive
lineman in the CFL who is American.Since 2016, Hardrick has been a member of the Bombers’ offensive line. The 33-year-old was awarded the best
offensive lineman in the CFL West Division last season and was chosen as a 2021 and 2023 CFL All-Star. In 2014, he made his CFL debut with the BC
Lions. Hardrick was with the Riders.had In free agency, Hardrick was rated as the second-best offensive tackle available. The Bombers now have a
hole at tackle on the offensive line as a result of the transfer. It might be the team’s attempt to avoid paying Hardrick too much while concentrating on re-
signing other elite players, such as wide receiver Dalton Schoen and running back Brady Oliveira. Additionally, it allows the squad to develop for the
future by putting younger players on the field. Askatchewan allowed the fifth-best 50 yards of the season last season, ranking in the middle of the pack
in sacks. The Riders needed to strengthen up front, and Hardrick provides them with greater line stability by starting at left tackle or right tackle, which were positions that changed during the 2023 season.
