It’s still unclear to 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan when or if wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk will return to the field. During his most recent media appearance,
Shanahan was asked the standard question about any changes regarding Aiyuk’s predicament. Aiyuk has not practiced during training camp, has been the
topic of trade talks, and wants a new contract. After jokingly stating that there was progress, Shanahan later admitted that nothing had changed since the
start of training camp. “Oh my goodness, a lot has changed. No, I’m kidding. Nothing new to report. I apologize for continuing to be so dull, but I wish I was
saying something else. But as of now, nothing has altered,” Shanahan stated on KNBR. When questioned about Aiyuk’s purported back issue, Shanahan didn’t seem enthusiastic.
